FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 30th, 2023

Winnipeg, ManitobaIt Shouldn’t Be Risky (ISBR), a new non-profit organization dedicated to combatting violence against women, is proud to announce its launch. This transformative program aims to empower women, promote personal safety, and create a society where women can live their lives free from the fear of violence.

It Shouldn't Be Risky is born out of the urgent need to address the pervasive issue of physical violence against women in our community. We firmly believe that no woman should have to fear harm as she goes about her daily life. Our mission is to equip women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to navigate their surroundings safely and protect themselves from potential threats.

While we are in the early stages of our program, we are excited to kick-start our fundraising efforts. These funds will be instrumental in laying the foundation for It Shouldn't Be Risky and will enable us to develop our self-defence training program. We invite individuals who share our passion for women's safety and empowerment to join us on this journey. For more information on how you can partner with us, please visit our website.

Additionally, we are actively seeking individuals interested in becoming certified trainers for It Shouldn't Be Risky. As a certified trainer, you will play a pivotal role in teaching women essential self-defence techniques, providing them with the tools they need to confidently navigate their daily lives. No background in self-defence training is required as we will arrange for your training and certification. All are welcome to apply. For more information, and the preliminary application, see our website.

Together, we can break the cycle of violence, empower women, and foster a society where women can live without the constant fear of physical harm. Join us in our mission to make It Shouldn't Be Risky vision a reality.
