They work closely with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to identify program needs, design program content, and establish program goals and objectives. The Programming & Events Chair ensures that programs align with the organization's mission and meet the needs of the target audience.
Event Planning and Execution: The Programming & Events Chair is responsible for planning and executing events that support the organization's mission and engage its stakeholders. They coordinate event logistics, such as venue selection, vendor management, and participant registration. The Programming & Events Chair ensures that events run smoothly, delivering positive experiences and achieving desired outcomes.
Program Evaluation and Improvement: The Programming & Events Chair oversees program evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness and impact of the organization's programs. They gather feedback from participants, analyze program outcomes, and identify areas for improvement. The Programming & Events Chair uses evaluation data to refine program strategies, enhance program content, and maximize the organization's impact.
Collaboration and Partnership: The Programming & Events Chair collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program offerings and expand the organization's reach. They establish partnerships with community organizations, sponsors, and relevant stakeholders to leverage resources, share expertise, and create collaborative programming opportunities.
Volunteer Management: The Programming & Events Chair oversees the recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers involved in program delivery and event planning. Budgeting and Financial Management: The Programming & Events Chair works closely with the Treasurer and the board to develop and manage program budgets. The Programming & Events Chair tracks program-related financial transactions and ensures compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Communication and Marketing: The Programming & Events Chair contributes to the organization's communication and marketing efforts related to programs and events. They work with the communications team to develop promotional materials, communicate program details to stakeholders, and generate interest and participation through various channels.
Continuous Learning and Innovation: The Programming & Events Chair stays abreast of emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches in program development and event management. If the board size is sufficient, this could also be two separate positions – Programming Chair and Events Chair.
May occasionally partner with the fundraising & donor relations chair in the facilitation of fundraising events.
